As Creative Lead at Media.Monks, I led the global digital-first campaign for Toyota’s sponsorship of Team USA during the lead-up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Originally planned as an on-the-ground production capturing powerful athlete stories, the campaign was dramatically reshaped when the Games were postponed due to the pandemic. Instead of pausing, I spearheaded a full creative pivot—shifting the narrative from performance to perseverance. We reimagined the content to highlight how athletes adapted in isolation, stayed mentally focused, and trained through uncertainty. Over the course of a year, I worked full-time on the account, creatively directing remote productions, briefing athletes virtually, and repurposing existing footage to craft emotionally resonant films. The result was a campaign that reflected the times and championed the resilience, grit, and human spirit of #TeamToyota—turning disruption into an opportunity to lead with empathy and innovation.
